The Little Cottage offers holiday cottage
self-catering accommodation in the delightful village of Ashford in the
Water, Derbyshire, close to the old market town of Bakewell in the
heart of the Peak District National Park.
The Little Cottage offers comfortable holiday
accommodation for up to 4 people. From the upstairs rooms there are
glorious views of the village and the hills beyond.
Pets and smokers welcome.
The Little Cottage lies on Hill Cross, a steep
little street which was once the main road northwards from the river
crossing at Ashford in the Water. This road was part of The Portway, an
Iron Age route from the Derby area to the hill fort of Mam Tor, in the
Hope Valley.
On entering via the front door you go into the
comfortable lounge, which has two settees, TV and a set of open stairs
leading to the first floor.
Off the lounge is the well-equipped kitchen, which
has an electric cooker / oven, fridge, microwave etc. There is a
washing machine available in the external garage. From the kitchen a
door leads outside to the garden.
At the rear of the cottage there is a small
enclosed garden with patio area and garden furniture, well placed to
catch the afternoon sunshine.
Going up the stairs from the lounge leads you to a
landing, off which open two bedrooms and a bathroom.
The first bedroom has a double bed and a fine view
across the village of Ashford.
The second bedroom contains a single bed with a
second bed stored beneath it.
The bathroom has a toilet, washbasin and bath,
with an electric shower fitted over the bath.
Next to the cottage there is a secure garage
available for use with the cottage. This contains a washing machine for
the use of visitors to the Little Cottage.
Ashford in the Water is one of the most
picturesque of Peak District villages. It also has a well-stocked shop
and delicatessen and two pubs, both of which serve excellent food.
