The Little Cottage offers holiday cottage self-catering
accommodation in the delightful village of Ashford in the Water, Derbyshire,
close to the old market town of Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District
National Park.
The Little Cottage offers comfortable holiday
accommodation for up to 3 people. From the upstairs rooms there are glorious
views of the village and the hills beyond.
Pets and smokers welcome.
The Little Cottage lies on Hill Cross, a steep little
street which was once the main road northwards from the river crossing at
Ashford in the Water. This road was part of The Portway, an Iron Age route from
the Derby area to the hill fort of Mam Tor, in the Hope Valley.
On entering via the front door you go into the comfortable
lounge, which as two settees, TV and a set of open stairs leading to the first
floor.
Off the lounge is the well-equipped kitchen, which has an
electric cooker / oven, fridge, microwave etc. There is a washing machine
available in the external garage. From the kitchen a door leads outside to the
garden.
At the rear of the cottage there is a small enclosed
garden with patio area and garden furniture, well placed to catch the afternoon
sunshine.
Going up the stairs from the lounge leads you to a
landing, off which open two bedrooms and a bathroom.
The first bedroom has a double bed and a fine view across
the village of Ashford.
The second bedroom contains a single bed.
The bathroom has a toilet, washbasin and bath, with an
electric shower fitted over the bath.
Across the road from the cottage there is a secure garage
available for use with the cottage. This contains a washing machine for the use
of visitors to the Little Cottage.
Ashford in the Water is one of the most picturesque of
Peak District villages. It also has a well-stocked shop and delicatessen and
two pubs, both of which serve excellent food. |
